Dear member,

We teased it in our February newsletter, and now it’s official. As of 1 April, SuperEasy’s management fee has dropped again, this time from 0.33% to 0.32%.

We know what you’re thinking: that doesn’t sound like much. But when it comes to your retirement fund, small numbers can mean big savings over time.

Every dollar you don’t pay in fees stays in your account, quietly working away on your future. And while 0.01% might not grab headlines, those basis points add up – especially over 10, 20, or 30 years. Lower fees can make a real difference when compounded across your contributions and returns.

That’s why we’ve been steadily chipping away at our fees. Back in 2019, our management fee was 0.50%. Since then, we’ve worked hard to bring it down, step by step, to where it is today: 0.32%. That’s one of the lowest in the market.

Even small changes in management fees can make a big difference over the long haul. Here’s what you could expect to pay:

  • $32 for a balance of $10,000 – you’d be paying $50 in 2019
  • $160 for a balance of $50,000 – that’s $250 in 2019
  • $320 for a balance of $100,000 – or $500 in 2019
Over five years, someone with $100,000 in their account could now be saving $180 a year compared to what they would’ve paid back in 2019 – money staying in their account, earning returns.

Low fees and solid performance

Now, low fees are great, but they’re not the only thing that matters. We also need to deliver on performance. That’s why we’re proud to offer a strong mix: low fees and solid long-term returns.

We don’t cut costs at the expense of your investment growth. We focus on value, keeping more of your money working for you while making smart, responsible investment decisions behind the scenes.

We’re not in this to make a quick buck. SuperEasy is exclusive to people working in local government, and everything we do is about supporting our members. Keeping our fees low is just one way we help you get the most out of your KiwiSaver.

So yes, another fee drop. Quietly good news. And a little reminder that with SuperEasy, you’re in good hands.

Kind regards
Charlie Howe
